PERRIS HALTS ROBINS HITTING THE TOP

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Division One

EAST LEAKE ROBINS FC 0 RAVENSHEAD FC 1

Having not been to Costock Road, the newish ground of East Leake Robins and the fact that a win today would take them to the top of Division One against recently relegated Ravenshead FC saw us travel down from Mansfield Woodhouse.

The Sat Nav took us to a car park where  cricket was taking place, so after Hazel had put my mobility scooter together, it was a matter of hurrying across a busy country lane. With cricket taking place, I asked someone if any adult football was being played here and they pointed me in the right direction over a massive hedge with a gap at the side the other side of the cricket field, but I do belieive that they do play on the cricket pitch when cricket season is over.

I soon find both sides warming up with Joe from the Robins running over to hand me his teamsheet and then ross from Ravenshead handing me theres. Im introduced to a young chap SAM who is the new East Leake Robins FC media man and he sits on top of the dug out and films some of the action for the clubs tik tok

The game kicked off and both sides cancelled each other out, no real action chances, with defences being on top for the majority of the match, but the deadlock was broken by the visitors in the 76th minute when PERRIS THOMAS netted from one of very few chances in the game that was on target, though in the final 5 minutes, the Robin did go close a couple of times.

After the match, Ravenshead FC kindly donated £5 and Eastl Leake Robins donated £10 and media man Sam donationed £5 to the Charity which is in aid of MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP and with the 25p going in to the pot for the goal, it takes the running total to £1,934.00.. A BIG THANKYOU to all.

If you would like to make a donation, you can see me at a match or do a bank transfer to the charity blog account.

BARRATT HEADS CAVS FIRST WIN BACK IN THE PREMIER DIVISION

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

RUDDINGTON VILLAGE FC 2 FC CAVALIERS 3

Well a visit to Elms Park on a lovely sunny days is always a pleasure and today the Nottinghamshire Senior League became one of the few League in the country to begin the trial of the FA's referees bodycam, infact 25 of the leagues referees will be using them throughout the season.

Referee Brett Hovey during his warm up spoke to both clubs and allowed players to ask questions, so they were aware of what they are being used and not used for, to which all the players and managers thought was a great idea.

Todays Officlas with Brett were Assistant Referees Andy Harland, who Ive not seen for possibly 10 years and still looks the same age as he was back then, he dont seem to have altered, meanwhile on the other line was young Harrison Thomas who funny enough was on the line at Aslockton last week, here I must say I felt all 3 had a great game.

As the players were being bought on to the pitch, it began to rain, well hammer down infact, as Hazel fetched my cover but when she got it to me, I was soaked, she got it on me and went back to the little clubhouse they have and the sun came out, but my mobile and camera were both wet, my mobile that wet, I couldnt tweet as my phone wasnt working, so it went back to the old clipbopard and pen days, I did spot a home supporter keep glancing at me wondering who I was and if I was someone important or just a groundhopper.

The game started brightly with both sides not afraid of attacking and in the 13th minute, a stunning shot from some 35 yards out by THEO SMITH hit the back of the home sides net to give the visitors the lead.

Ruddington pushed forward and they were nearly on level terms when a shot rattled the away crossbar, but on 20 minutes, a low cross from the right wing found BRETT SOIZA  who fired home the equaliser from just inside the area.

Half time came and the scores were level in quite a even contest, but straight from the second half kick off it was Ruddington that took the early advantage, when a ball played out to the left wing, saw DANIEL MANSFIELD drive home a shot in to the far corner.

FC Cavaliers then looked more dangerous and started to link up play well and on the hour mark, pulled themselves level when a ball from the right, found out LIAM HONEYMAN  who just beat the defender at the near post to level.

Both teams now were not giving up and  going all out for the three points, with near misses and good goalkeeping from both sides, but after 81 minutes, a long throw for the visitors saw CALLUM BARRATT head the high ball in to the net to give FC Cavaliers their first win of the season.

Before the match, referee Brett Hovey kindly donated £5 of his match fee to the Charity Blog which is in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Support Group and with the £1.25 from the goals scored today takes the running total to £1,913.75p. Brett also announced that both teams produced a excellent game that was a credit to the Nottinghamshire Senior League.

SAM SECURES A POINT AT THE SPA

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

ASLOCKTON & ORSTON FC 1 WOLLATON FC 1

One of those weeks where I thought where am I going to on Saturday and even this morning I was still asking myself the same question, looked at a few games but then settled on a trip to Aslockton & Orston as Id not been there for around 5 seasons with the covid and for some reason or another not thinking it had been that long.

My twitter and Facebook accounts were getting some very positive feedback about my guest appearance on Grassroots Plus Podcast, if you would like to hear the show and help me smash the highest ratings then just click on this LINK

On arrival on the car park, the senior Assistant referee David Southern followed by match referee Lewis Quayle, as I wen to enter the clubhouse, there was a young lady who was taking admission and giving out a matchday programme, so programme collectors, here is a ground to visit.

Over the years a lot of hard work has been done, I recall going there on a freezing day many moons ago and the pitch was like a ploughed field, but now woith a stand behind the goal, new clubhouse and changing rooms, lovely pitch that is barriered  and a large car park, the club have come along way. The club really has that family run feeling to it.

Both teams looked very young, Aslockton always seemed to give young players a chance in to adult football, whilst Wollaton are rebuilding as only 1 player played today who was with them last season.

The First Half kicked off and both teams were well matched and cancelling each other out, with very few chances, the ones that were did fall to the homesters but they just couldnt hit the target, infact I dont recall either keeper having a save to make in the first half.

The lovely gate lady happened to be the home players number 9 Sam Philpotts and the wife of the new assistant manager and she also runs the club Twitter site and along side of her was her sons Grandad. Just before half time, I asked if she was going to the clubhouse and to save me going over on my mobility scooter if she would be so kind to bring me a can of pop back with her, to which she did.

Well the Second Half couldnt be as dull as the First Half surely, well it wasnt as the home keeper was called in to action with a midair diving save that was destined for the top left corner of the net.

Time was ticking on and on 67 minutes, Aslockton gave away a foul to the right hand side inbetween the halfway line and penalty area, it was floated in and with a flying header by ADAM WOOLLEY the ball hot the back of the net to give the visitors the lead.

The home began to come out their shell and pressed forward, but the Wollaton defence were very strong and it would take something special to get past them, this did happen in the 76th minute, when SAM PHILPOTS swung in a corner from the right side that struck the far goalpost and bounded in to the net to even up the scores.

Both team went for the three points but as the final whistle went, a draw was a fair and well respected by both clubs result.

All three match officials deserve a mention as they all did very well and worked well as a team.

The Charity Blog has a BIG surprise this morning with a cheque for £180.00, £100 was raised  in THE FIVE BELLS in Claypole, HERBIE & SUE £50 and £30 from CATHY JONES, at the end of todays match MARTIN HALLAM kindly donated £10 on behalf of ASLOCKTON & ORSTON FC and with the 2 goals now takes the running total in aid of the Motor Neuron Disease Support Group up to a whacking £1,907.50p A BIG thankyou to All.

BIDDLE STARS IN LANGWITH'S OPENING DAY WIN

Eurosoccer Notts Senior League Division Three

LANGWITH WHITESTAR FC 7 TRENT VINEYARD FC 2

It was the opening day of the 21st season of the Notts Senior League and a easy choice of game I was attending, as Hazel had been away for the week up in Preston and after her driving alot, I felt it unfair to go far, so with Langwith only around 4 miles from my bungalow, it was within easy reach.

On arrival I was greeted by both sides and soon made a cuppa by the home managers wife, soon the referee turned up Stuart Ingleby and we had a good catch up as we hadnt seen each other for a few years. With both teamsheets in, I parked my mobility scooter on the halfway on the far side and met groundhopper Adam from the Burton upon Trent area and then joined by Mark Farnell and his daughter Lucy. On the park bench was Lucas Thomas mum and Gran, more about Lucas later.

Before kick off there was a minutes applause for one of the Whitestar players dad who sadly passed away earlier in the week after a battle with cancer and died of sepsis.

The game kicked off with just a slight drizzle which soon stopped and out came the bright hot sunshine, both sides began the game seeming to boot the ball from defence to the forwards but both soon found out that all the defences were doing was heading the ball back, so after calming down, there was some football on the floor.

The breakthrough came after 10 minutes, when a looping header by DOM LYNAS put the visitors ahead. In ther 13th minute, Whitestar had the chqance to get back on to level terms when awarded a penalty but a low spot kick to the keepers right saw him get down low and save it to preserve his sides lead.

On 22 minutes, the homesters were back level when SAM DOCKWRAY  weaved his way through the defence, saw his first shot palmed back in to his path for him to finish from close range.

Just after the halfhour, Langwith took the lead, when a llow ball was played across and RYLEY SHORTHOSE fired home.

Half time came and a few subs were made to begin the second half, but this seemed to fire up Whitestar as in the 46th minute, one of their subs OWEN BIDDLE extended their lead to 3-1. Vineyard tried to push players forward but didnt relly trouble the home keeper, whilst Langwith kept attacking and it was a matter of when the next goal was to be scored and that came in the 54th minute, when OWEN BIDDLE beat the offside trap to place home his second and his sides fourth off the game.

After 62 minutes, Vineyard were given a glance of hope, when COURTNEY SAMUELS mussled his way through, before a delightful lob beast the home keeper to reduce the arrears to 4-2.

The Trentsiders comeback though was short lived, when on 66 minutes, a free kick was floated in to the far post and headed home by THOMAS KING.

Trent Vineyard dint give up and kept playing but the homesters could well have added to their total with several very close missed chances.

With 87 minutes gone it was time for LUCAS THOMAS mum and gran to cheer, as the young 16 year old took the ball from the half way line with his head down, rounded the away keeper before slotting home on his debut to make it 6-2.

With 2 minutes to go, Whitestar got a corner, to which Biddle took, I said to a fellow hopper, if I was on a hat trick there would be no chance of me taking a  corner, Id be in that box hunting for it, well in the final minute OWEN BIDDLE did get his hat trick when he lobbed the keeper from just outside the box to make it a final score of 7-2.

Must say Referee Stuart Ingleby had a outstanding game

With the 9 goals scored at 25p per goal, that now takes the running total for the MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP up to £1,717.00p
