EUROSOCCER CUP FINALS DAY AT DUNKIRK FC

Last Sunday I tested positive for covid and have had a rough week, with Hazel ringing 111 on Monday or Tuesday I cant remember what day it was, the ambulance came and checked me out and Id been having angina attacks though Id used my spray and taken aspiring and it had calmed down whilst they checked me out, so they said they didnt want to take me to Kings Mill Hospital whilst having covid.

Hazel retested me again on Friday and I am still postive, just hoping when she tests me next Tuesday that Im negative, as its my birthday next Friday and next Saturday im supposed to be having a family BBQ.

Hazel tested herself this morning and she was fine, so she went to the Finals to do the Charity Raflles at both the matches being held at Dunkirk FC.

She has come home and she raised £186.30p over the two games, so we would like to thank everyone who had bought raffle tickets over the two matches in aid of MND NOTTINGHAM SUPPORT GROUP, which takes the running total to £684.05p

We do have a charity match coming up when the NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE REP TEAM play AC WOLLATON(The Angels) Charity club on Saturday 15th June 2024 at ILKESTON TOWN FC, it would be superb to see as many folks come along and support this event..Entry is £4 cash for adults and under 16's free

SECOND HALF COMEBACK SEES STAPLEFORD RETAIN THE CUP

EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMHIRE SENIOR INTERMEDIATE CUP FINAL

STAPLEFORD TOWN RESERVES FC 2 GREYFRIARS FC 1

A last gasp header by ROBSON GREY saw Cup Holders Stapleford Town Reserves retain the trophy.

The game began and from the first corner of the match after 74 seconds, Greyfriars JACK HOPPER headed the ball downwards in to the net. Greyfriars from a division below looked to build upon their lead and just before half time saw the Town keeper pull off a superb one handed save from a 35 yard free kick.

Stapleford came out fired up for the second half and were soon back on level terms after 49 miuutes when a header by JAMES HALES found the net.

The tie flew one way then the other with chance after chance and Greyfriars must have thought theyd taken the lead with 12 minutes to go when another free kick smacked the corner of the underneath of the crossbar and the follow up was slid just wide.

With the clock ticking down and people thinking about extra time, a third headed goal of the game was scored by the Stapleford captain to take the trophy back to the Town.

A entertaining game where I felt all 4 match officials had very good games

Can I thank everyone who donated to the charity raffle that raised £51.00, taking the running total to £496.50p.

END OF SEASON STATEMATE ENDS NINE YEAR STREAK

 West Lancs League Premier Division

COPPULL UNITED FC 0 WHITEHAVEN AFC 0

Saw this ground on my Facebook Group called "Non League Ground of England Wales & Scotland" at the start of the season and noticed that the homesters did a badge, so whilst in Preston this Bank Holiday weekend, it was time to make a visit.

With overnight rain in Preston, I was getting doubtful, but after a quick phone call and chat to the friendly secretary he confirmed the game was on, to be honest the pitch is a credit to them, the ground also houses a fairly large clubhouse with a bar, but sells tea and coffee in the club mugs, so a def listed place for hoppers that collect badges and mugs!!

Well thats where the excitement ends really as the game though end to end didnt really produce much in the way of saves by either keeper.

Sadly it ends my run of 9 seasons with out seeing a 0-0 draw, but this ground is well worthy of a visit as everyone is very welcoming.
