Report from Langwith Whitestar FC Facebook Page

The day of the ground hoppers and they weren’t disappointed.
2 early Langwith goals from fabulous corners delivered by Brady Dockwray, left Ricky Geeson and Harry Farnsworth with little to do to grab the goals.
Langwith’s two goal lead was halved in no time with a well worked Parrabellum set piece of their own.
The first of the games sin bins was awarded to Owen Biddle several minutes before the half time break. Parrabellum couldn’t get a foot hold and Langwith actually looked more likely to extend their lead with the 10 men.
Into the second half and Owen was called back into play by the referee. A mix up at the back cost Langwith their lead and it looked as though the momentum was surely with the visitors after clawing back the early 2 goal deficit.
20 mins to play and the second sin bin of the game was dished out to Langwiths Brady Dockwray, that was quickly turned into two yellow and a red by todays official, who took a disliking to pretty much anything that came out the Langwith lads mouths.
Like before Parrabellum failed to capitalise on the extra man advantage, even more so when super sub Alex Bromley slid to connect to a loose ball in the box leaving the away keeper with little hope, and the sidelines erupted.
The lead was shortly doubled after a Sam Dockwray shot was spilled into the path of Jordan Radford who made no mistake with the goal gaping.
Great team performance today, but MOTM went to Widdo who was class from start to finish.
Full time 4-2
Thanks to everyone for today’s support.

OLYMPIC LASP GASP WINNER KNOCKS THYE WIND FROM ST MARYS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two

NOTTS OLYMPIC FC 4 SOUTHWELL ST MARYS FC 3

Well where do I begin?

About 2 weeks ago whilst doing my blog, I noticed I'd not got any match pencilled down as today, so looked at the fixtures and this caught my eye for a few seasons, I once saw a pre season friendly at Redhill Leisure Centre some 20 odd years ago and couldnt really remember it. Id only nseeen Southwell St Marys once but that was a totally different set up about 15 years ago when they beat Underwood Villa and then folded. Id only seen Notts Olympic once and that was on their mini hop day and they have moved grounds a couple of times.

As many of you know the storms hit hard this weekend all over the place, but this game was still on, I got the teams lines up well before the `1.30pm deadline and ventured out to the pitchside position, before kick off, someone must have mentioned to Olympic that I like mince pies, so they not only presented me with a box but told me Id got to take one from another box to eat there and then, well I wasnt going to turn down that offer.

The game kicked off  but it wasnt as sweet as the mince pies for Olympic, when after 8 minutes in the driving rain and  swirling wind, BEN SELBY hit a curling shot in to the top corner to shock the table toppers. The game was going end to end but the rain and wind was making things difficult for both serts of players, but not for BEN SELBY who again after 18 minutes tried his luck with a long range effort that hit the net to double St Marys lead to 2-0. Last month, the homesters had scored 27 goals but hadnt troubled the visiting keeper as yet.

Olympic grew in to the game and began to attack more down the left hand wing and the ball was pulled back in the 25th minute for YUKSEL YUKSELEN blasted the ball through a crowded penalty area to hit the net.

On the half hour, the scores were level, when the Olympic's top scorer NILE IONS-HALL from the left wing saw the keeper off his line and with the wind advantage floated it above his head into the top far corner.

On 41 minutes, Olympic turned the game round when NILE IONS-HALL tried his luck with a 30 yard shot that bounced and then skidded under the visiting keeper.

The Second Half kicked off and St Marys had made a couple of subs and they pushed forward in search of a quick equaliser to which they got after 48 minutes, when I think it was RYAN LINFORD hit a quick shot to beat the home keeper.

Both sides in the second half was going for the win and St Marys thought they'd got it when the ball hit the inside of the post after 75 minutes, I think both managers of each side throught it had gone in and bounced out, but no players had appealed and they were closer than us watching.

Olympic seemed to just up their game for the final ten minutes and in the 83rd minute, the table toppers got a winner when MATT GORDON  weaved his way past defenders and chipped the ball over the opposition goalkeeper.

All credit as well to the match referee AIDEN JACKSON  who I felt had a superb game and let the game flow in difficult weather conditions, all credit to both sets of players as well in providing a end to end game in the conditions.

I only managed to take a few photos due to the weather, they can be seen on this LINK

This coming Thursday afternoon, I will be handing over the Charity Blogs Chaeque to the MOTOR NEURONR DISEASE for £2,427.25p.
